“From the day we are born into this world, we begin the journey of life, flowing and ebbing, through many experiences, loves, celebrations, losses, sadness…all part of searching for our true selves.”

My journey began long ago… When grown ups asked me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I would answer, immediately, “I am here to help people. ” But, I didn’t know how that was going to come to be. So began this path, through this Eden of Life.

When it came time to choose a course of study, I decided to major in Psychology, even though my talent, at that time, lay in art & music. I graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with a BA, and began a career working with all sorts of people! I worked with autistic children, mentally challenged adults, adolescent girls with behavior problems, nursing home patients, and the elderly. I loved every one of those jobs.

The artist side of me felt neglected, so I began studying voice, and performing professionally. Music became my full time job. For many years, I worked in churches and synagogues, performed in operas, oratorios, quartets, choral groups and as a soloist.

And still… there was that call to “help people”… In 1995, I began hearing the word, “Reiki”. It was something I was drawn to. I wanted to find out more about it. I attended a free “Reiki Circle”, and had my first full Reiki treatment. I found what I had been looking for, all those years. I completed all of the Usui Reiki levels, and became a “Master Teacher”, in 1998.

So, I was now doing music AND healing! I started asking , “Am I supposed to do music or do healing”? The answer I always receive is “yes.” How do I combine the two???

As life sends us along our journey, if we stop and look around, we can sometimes see how we got to where we are… In 2002, I became Director of Music for Our Lady of the Angels, Catholic Community, at Charlestown Retirement Community. I work with the elderly, using music…. Healing and music…

The most recent leg of this journey, has been planning retreats. In 2005, a friend and I decided to put on a Reiki & Healing Retreat, at a YMCA camp near Annapolis, Maryland. It was amazing! I had said that I would know if it was successful, if we actually had fun, ourselves. And, we did! So, the retreats have continued. It is a passion for me, to bring folks together for a common purpose.

I am a “people person”. And, I am here to help people….

Frank Arjava Petter signed my book, The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui.

He wrote,

“In your heart

Compassion

Pulsates and radiates

Out to everyone

You touch”
